HISTORY
Beta Kappa Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta at CU Boulder
The Beta Kappa Chapter was originally founded May 16, 1912. The original house was located at 1029 Broadway built in 1918. After Beta Kappa left campus at the height of the protests and turmoil of the 60's (in 1969) the house was purchased by the Evans Scholars. It remains Evans Scholars to date. That house originally had a diamond shaped chapter room addition that was only used for formal meetings, and the diamond could be seen from the street if you knew what you you were looking for. That addition was made into a standard shape a couple years ago.
The house was then rechartered on November 6, 1976 and initially located at the corner of Cascade and 15th for a couple years. Then, the former Sigma Chi house (the only fraternity house in the region with a swimming pool, basketball court, and sand volleyball court) was purchased in 1978. That house, which stood at the corner of 17th St and Aurora Ave, was the chapter house until Fiji left campus again in 2005. The house was torn down and replaced by apartments and Acacia in approximately 2015.
